Full disclosure. I have been looking forward to this burger since we bought the book, but only because it comes with onion rings and I'm very into that.
First: If you want to see what we've done thus far, Ketchup, here or click to the left to see the master list of all the posts so far. 48 of them. Today is 49! This weeks burger is going to be.... interesting.
The burger itself is...well... It's beef, mixed with fruit. It's beef mixed with diced red apple, which...okay. It's also meant to have fresh marjoram in it, but we were unable to find fresh, so we will have to use dried. The burger is topped with cheddar cheese and bottomed with a squeeze of mayo.
The exciting part of this, is obviously the onion rings, for me anyway. Rings of onion, battered with mix of flour, egg, milk and fresh rosemary. YAAAS.
When built, the burger goes bottom bun, mayo, cheeseburger (with apple), onion rings, top bun. I'm assuming there will be extra onion rings and I AM HERE FOR IT!

Also, since we're being so honest, the last couple of burgers, the recipe has called for lettuce (nothing special just the leafy stuff), but the directions do not indicate where to put it, so I have been putting it nowhere. This is just between us guys. Seriously, do not tell Husband. He will make the face...the HUSBAND FACE. Seriously, guys...seriously. Wait. Is he going to read this? Probably not.
Here we go!
Burger:

Oh yeah.
Our thoughts:
Husband: Fall, fresh apples add burger and homemade deep friend onion rings! yum! This may be one of the most dense burgers we have made, and brioche only adds to it. It was quite tasty. Maybe a bit more salt & pepper...
8/10
Me: Independent of the burger, the onion rings were great. The rosemary popped, they were crispy and the onions were a little sweet. The burger was... so the diced apple, I feared would be weird, but it just added a tiny bit of sweetness to the burger. The cheddar cheese added a sharpness and the mayo made it creamy. The marjoram sort of got lost in there, but all in all, I really liked it.
9.5/10
Gatsby was sad to learn that he can't have onions, but was delighted to learn that we made him two baby cheeseburgers, sans onion. Usually he gets one today, the other is broken up and placed in the refrigerator to pop in his bowl for a few days. Last week, when we weren't looking, he got his bonus burger before we put it in the fridge. We benevolently decided he shouldn't be punished forever for this ONE transgression. Also we had beef left.

| He promised not to steal his extra burger this week. |
Tune in next week for BURGER 50!!!!!!!!! What will it be? Will we love it? Will it have a random fruit on it? Only about twenty or so to go until we've done them all. Until next week...Keep Sizzlin'.
